Beautiful Art for your Home and work

Artist Statement

I paint in an abstracted realist style, sometimes I veer towards full abstraction, other times I am closer to realism, but its always a mix of the two. The art schools I attended in the 90s were conceptual schools that didn’t have strong painting and drawing departments, so I feel like I am partially self taught. Art school helped me develop my eye, and gave me permission to enter into a world that before hand I thought didn’t belong to me. Once that door opened, I saw an endless new world to explore. I am still exploring and do not ever want to stop.

Art forces you to look at the questions : who am I? What am I doing here? What is it that I really want? Some of the answers I have come up with are beauty, colour, light, expression, form, formless, joy, place…Colour enlivens me and I am endlessly drawn to colour and light. I have found “home” in my sketchbook, both things feeling illusive until my late 40s. Most of my watercolours stay there in my sketchbook, and my formal paintings for sale are done in acrylic, mixed media, and sometimes oil. I find nothing more comforting than a quiet candle lit morning with my tea sketching a bowl of forced bulbs in late winter… But I also love how art brings people together and helps to keep the threads of community woven. We are living in dangerous times; art heals, unites, clarifies, and shares the story of our world.
