Big, Bold, Beautiful Paintings

Artist Statement

WELCOME

I’m Beth. I create beautiful still lifes, florals, and landscapes for collectors who want to elevate their spaces and feel that nothing can stop them from living their dreams.

My Journey as an Artist

In my early 20s I discovered an intensely rich and deep artistic spirit inside me, who was willing to explore what I could not find words for. This yearning for artistic expression has lead me though all the choices I have made in my life. My first choice was to attend art school. In the beginning I just wanted to paint and learn, and still lifes were a choice of study to improve skills. Landscapes were a way for me to satisfy my need to be in nature while also engaging with my art practice- drawing in nature is a way to “be” in nature, to be part of it and study it. Flowers have always felt like nature’s expression of passion and beauty -like a way that Mother Nature can share her creative artistic side with us. Over time these subjects became more meaningful, not just a way to build skills but as a way to truly express my sense of aliveness of being here on earth.

The Joy in Art

Ever since I can remember I have been connected with a feeling, a sense of place and embodiment that felt beyond language, and all I want to do is explore and express this somatic existence. I express this felt sense through music, art, and movement. I am a channel for this sweet joy when I engage in the arts. I have crafted a life that cultivates the expansion of this feeling, so that when a person buys my work, they are inspired and uplifted. That is the magic of art, it holds the intention of its creator and carries it forever and shares it with anyone who wants to look. Peak experiences have shaped me, and in turn they shape my work.

A Quest for Colour

It is colour that keeps me going. I LOVE colour. Colour awakens the senses and can be felt throughout the body. Colour is an expression of light and spirit. As a painter, colour allows me to express how I feel about a subject. Because of the nature of paint and pigment, the perfect colours are unattainable -I can only attempt to create with colour, what I long to achieve.
