Crafting a new life as a 2-4 Human Design Profile Artist
On my 56th birthday in March I burned my life down. There were 7 planets in Aries and I knew this was my time. I left my partner and home and moved to the only place I could with my meagre income…my mother’s house!
Thankfully she has a granny suite so this is now my studio/kitchen/bedroom/workout space.
I know. Not an easy decision. But I’m lucky to have it. No post menopausal woman wants to make this decision, but sometimes it has to be made. Homes are unaffordable, gas and groceries take up most of my income now, and I’m a 2/4 profile in Human Design which makes marketing and outreach a puzzle. I need huge swaths of down and quiet time to function and I wasn’t getting it in my old life. I also wasn’t getting the focused hours I needed to work. So I took my life in my own hands for the first time since I was in my 20s and I made a move that could support my work.
So here I am. Six months into my new life. It was a hard and right decision. I have but this one life, if I don’t fully realize my calling, then I’ll feel like I’ve wasted it. Now I can focus. Now I can be quiet. I can let the new ideas bubble up in a quiet focused space. Now I can go out and be with people and come home and shut the door…all 2/4 must haves. The blend of Hermit and Community must be honoured. And oh my is the community part being honoured - I am part of a swimming/boogie boarding group and there isn’t a day I am not in the ocean. I am also continuing to teach my classes in art and shamanism and Essentrics, and having lots of fun with summer visitors.
So as hard as all this is, it’s right, and it’s real and it really does speak of the times we are in. It’s not selfish to be an artist, it’s essential to push back against fascism. It’s also not selfish to be an Aries although some people see it that way. We just are who we are and we need to make our lives work for us!
